National Service Scheme (NSS)
“Not Me, But You”
The National Service Scheme (NSS) at our college is a vibrant platform that bridges the gap between the classroom and the community. Rooted in the philosophy of selfless service, our NSS unit empowers students to become socially responsible citizens while developing leadership skills and a deep understanding of the diverse social fabric of India.
Our Core Objectives
-
Social Awareness: To sensitize students to the problems of the community and the needs of the underprivileged.
-
Personality Development: To develop a sense of social and civic responsibility through group living and community interaction.
-
Leadership Building: To identify and nurture leadership qualities among students by organizing large-scale outreach programs.
-
National Integration: To promote a spirit of communal harmony and national unity.
Major Activities & Initiatives
Our volunteers are actively involved throughout the academic year in both Regular Activities and Special Camping Programs:
1. Community Outreach & Adoption
We adopt local villages or urban slums to implement long-term development goals, including literacy drives and infrastructure improvement.
2. Health & Wellness Campaigns
-
Blood Donation Camps: Regular tie-ups with government hospitals to save lives.
-
Awareness Rallies: Campaigns on pulse polio, HIV/AIDS awareness, and mental health.
-
Sanitation Drives: Active participation in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to maintain campus and neighborhood cleanliness.
3. Environmental Conservation
-
Van Mahotsav: Massive plantation drives on and off-campus.
-
Water Conservation: Educating the community on rainwater harvesting and reducing plastic waste.
4. Skill Development & Education
-
NSS Literacy Mission: Providing basic education and tutoring for children in adopted communities.
-
Women Empowerment: Workshops on self-defense, vocational training, and legal rights.
Special 7-Day Annual Camp
The highlight of the NSS calendar is the Special Winter/Summer Camp. Volunteers stay in a rural setting for seven days, immersing themselves in the local culture and executing a specific community project, such as building a small check dam, repairing a school building, or conducting a detailed socio-economic survey.
